Nestled on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Warburton on Paddock Lane between Lymm and the historic National Trust stately home at Dunham Massey, the Saracen’s Head dates back to the 17th Century. This characterful old coaching Inn retains many of it original features such as the old wooden bar, open log fires and inviting nooks and crannies. The bar and restaurant have been tastefully modernised to present a comfortable and inviting contemporary environment.
The exterior of the building retains its original character and is dominated by the medieval woodcarving that predates the original building and is said to have been retrieved from the holy land by the Knights Templer. St Werburgh’s Church across the road, dates back to Saxon times and excavations by TV’s Time Team have unearthed some fascinating artifacts. An old tunnel connects the pub to the church, which was used by Royalist fleeing Cromwell’s troops during the Civil War and the Saracen’s Head is reputed to have once hosted the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin.
Much has changed since those days but the ambiance and character remains. If you come and visit us anytime of the year and meander the day away enjoying our fine locally sourced food, chilled wines, beers, freshly ground coffee and patisserie counter you will be sure to find the atmosphere at The Saracens Head as relaxed, friendly and informal, as it has always been.
Our summer al fresco barbeques at the weekend and bank holidays are a real treat where we encourage our customers to lounge and relax in our extensive lawned seating areas with children’s play arenas and outdoor entertainment facilities.
While the overall impression of the pub is comfortable, light and open, it is our attention to detail and high level of service that ensures your whole eating and drinking experience at The Saracens Head will be truly memorable.
We look forward to meeting you!
